The current instability of coal prices has encouraged people to be creative with creativity to produce a new innovation that can replace the position of new coal. One of the innovations that have been made is Wood Pellet.

Wood Pellet or Wood Pellet is one type of renewable alternative fuel that is more environmentally friendly (Bioenergy). The shape is almost similar to Wood Briquettes, but the size and adhesive are different.

Wood Pellet is produced from hardwood such as Kaliandra wood or wood waste which is then processed into powder with a length of 1 to 3 cm and a diameter of around 6 to 10 mm. Each grain of Wood Pellet powder is in the form of a solid cylinder. Its density is around 650 kg / m3 or 1.5 m3 / ton.

Wood Pellet or wood pellets have many benefits and various functions. Wood pellets can be used to meet various needs, both household needs and industrial and corporate needs.

For household needs, Wood Pellets are often used as heating fuel. Heating is essential for countries that experience winter such as Korea, Japan, China, and various countries in Europe.

In Korea itself, the required Wood Pellet Stock reaches 100 thousand tons each year. Wood Pellets in that amount have covered the needs of households and also various industrial companies there. In fact, the Korean government has decided to switch from using coal to Wood Pellets.

Wood Pellets are also used as fuel in various industrial companies, factories, and even SMEs. Starting from being used as fuel to operate machines in factories to drying in the laundry business, everything can be handled with this Wood Pellet.

The material used to make Wood Pellets is Carbon Neutral, which means it does not add CO2 emissions to the atmosphere. This is because Wood Pellets come from trees that have absorbed more CO2 than they release.

That way, Wood Pellets are able to produce lower exhaust emissions than other fuels. CO2 emissions from Wood Pellets are 8 times lower than gas fuel, and 10 times lower than coal and fuel oil.

In addition, Wood Pellet waste is much safer than coal. Coal waste has been categorized as category B3 which means it is hazardous, while Wood Pellet waste is safe, and can even be used directly as fertilizer for plants.

Wood Pellets have properties like firewood which when not in use can be extinguished first and then reused when needed. Unlike coal which must be used up and extinguished by itself.

However, even though it has characteristics like firewood, the calorie content of Wood Pellets is the same as coal. This is because Wood Pellets have gone through a drying phase to remove the water content in the wood.

With the advantages and benefits of Wood Pellets that have been discussed earlier, it can be concluded that Wood Pellets are much more useful than other fuels, especially when compared to new coal.
